Mass fatality events happen and Floridians, unfortunately, are well familiar with havoc natural disasters can wreak as well as the man-made events we have come to know by name such as the Pulse Nightclub Shooting and the Surfside building collapse.  If one of these events were to happen in your community, would your location be prepared?  This one-day training will provide a substantive overview of the situations funeral professionals should be prepared to address during and after a mass fatality event as well as a toolkit attendees can use to ensure their funeral home and community are prepared, should the unthinkable occur. Receive 6 CEUs.

Key learning outcomes of this training:

  • Understanding the factors that will affect a locality’s ability to deal with a mass fatality incident.
  • Increased awareness of the critical operational activities of mass fatality events: notification, staging, search and recovery, morgue operations, media relations, and family assistance.
  • Understanding how Family Assistance Centers can support families and aid in identification of the deceased.
  • Preparations that should be undertaken to ensure that the psychological needs of responders are addressed.
  • Recognizing the importance of Critical Incident Stress Debriefings for responders at a mass fatality incident.
  • Understanding of the resources available at the local, State, and Federal levels.
